A Royal Affair.

 

If you’ve talked to me in the last week you would know how OBSESSED I am with the Royal Wedding. Borderline ridiculous. I read every article, watched E! news clips, and speculated over the dress with every other person in the world. And yes, I stayed up until 5 am to watch Kate Middleton and Prince William tie the knot. It was more than worth it. Not only was the wedding spectacular, beautiful, and romantic; but a piece of history witnessed only once. And well, no one does a wedding like British Royalty.
Kate Middleton is possibly one of the luckiest girls in the world. Not only is she absolutely beautiful, but she just married a prince, and became the Dutchess of Cambridge. She oozes elegance and grace and looked nothing less than a queen this past friday as she left Westminster Abbey with William on her arm…. but of course, you all know this already.

After months of speculation, the best kept secret in the world was Kate’s choice of dress for her wedding. Many British fashion houses were thought to be designing the gown but in the end Sarah Burton for Alexander McQueen (as believed) created a masterpiece fit for a queen. The dress was designed based on Kate’s signature style of low necked, fitted silhouette with a full skirt and lace sleeves.

Complying with Westminster Abby dress code, guests wore their very best. Women came in beautiful hats and colorful dresses, and men wore perfectly tailored morning coats. Some notable guests included David and Victoria Beckham, royals from Spain, Greece, and the Netherlands, Sir Elton John, and of course the Queen, herself.
Kate’s family completed the look perfectly. Her mother, Carole, wore a beautiful blue suit by Catherine Walker. Sister, Pippa, wore a figure-flattering gown by Sarah Burton as the Maid of Honor.
My favorite outfit from the wedding (apart from the bride) was her sister Pippa in that gorgeous, body hugging dress. She looked HOT! Totally my kind of dress! Upon seeing it, I thought it was a little weird to be wearing white next to the bride! But apparently, it’s English custom that the bridal party wear all white. The sleek silhouette showed that Kate wasn’t the only beautiful Middleton.

Beautiful outfits aside, I would like to talk about the hats! The British love their hats… actually, they ROCK their hats! Philip Treacy, the renowned hat designer was the milliner for the big day. Victoria Beckham wore a classicly chic pillbox-styled hat to match her self-designed dress. Treacy, unfortunately, made a few fashion mishaps for Friday. Princess Beatrice wore an over the top, spider-like hat, along with sister Eugenie. Tara Palmer Tomkinson wore a slightly outrageous ensemble by Deborah Milner. In my opinion, she looked like comic book villain, rather than a wedding-attendee.
The Royal Wedding was not only a moment in history, but a moment in fashion history as well. Full of character, color, and classic British elegance; creating inspiration for fashionistas around the world.
